The learning objectives of this course are:
Identify anatomical structures involved in and affected by pregnancy.
Understand physiological responses during and after pregnancy.
Identify skeletal muscles involved in pregnancy and common inhibited muscles.
Understand aspects and dimensions of wellness postpartum.
Identity health risks associated with pregnancy.
Learn about health risk screening, pre-participation risk appraisal, and medical clearance in postpartum exercise programs.
Learn and identify postpartum fitness assessments.
Learn how to create and implement a structured exercise program postpartum (correct lifting mechanisms, breathing techniques, program design, FITT principles - Resistance, Training, Cardio, and Flexibility).
Learn exercise indications and contraindications.
Understand nutritional requirements and recommendations established for postnatal participants.
Understand behaviour change, rapport building, and communication with postnatal participants.
Identify common problems observed with postnatal participants (Diastasis Recti, Hernia, Incontinence, C Section Pregnancies, Preineal Soreness, Heart Failure, Gestational Diabetes, Postpartum Thyroiditis).
